The journey for the beautiful Kedarkantha peak commences from the city of Dehradun. From Dehradun it’s a long drive to Sankri located at an altitude of 6400 feet and takes about 10 hours to reach. It’s a distance of 220 km from Dehradun. The trekking trip starts from Sankri the next day towards Jadu Ka Talab which is based at 9100 feet and takes about 5 hours trekking to reach the destination. During this trail one can experience the beauty of lush meadows, dense pine forests, cascading beautiful streams, and gorgeous maple trees. Here is the first campsite where the trekkers need to stay in tents. From Jadu ka talab on the following day one needs to trek up to 11,250 feet towards Kedarkantha base which is again a distance of approximately 4.5 kms. In this trail the trekkers pass through lush meadows and for the first time catch the view multiple snow capped peaks standing tall encircling the location. The next destination is the Kedarkantha peak which is based at a height of 12,500 feet and this trail can be a little challenging in compared to others. However the views of the fascinating Himalayas make it up for all the hard work with its breathtaking views. On conquering the peak it’s a journey back where the first stop would be at Horegaon camp at 8900 feet which can be reached on the same day evening. The next day it’s a trail back to Sankri through dense pine forests. From Sankri it’s a journey back to Dehradun and way forward.

Brief Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at Sankri

  Altitude: 6,400 feet

  220 km drive – approx 10 hours

  Trekkers will be picked from Dehradun at 6:30am in a bolero,tampo travellar or a similar vehicle.

Or you can go through bus.

Note travel cost is not included from dehradun to sankari and back you have to pay it by yourself we will arrange a vechel for you only. By Bus it will cost around 300-500 or by cab 700-900.

Day 2: Sankri to Juda-ka-Talab

  Altitude: 6,400 feet to 9,100 feet

  4 kms trek, approx 5 hours

  The trail passes through dense pine forests, maple trees, few streams and finally opens out to beautiful meadows

  Stay in tents

Day 3: Juda-ka-Talab to Kedarkantha Base

  Altitude: 9,100 feet to 11,250 feet

  4 kms trek, approx 2.5 hours

  Most of today’s trail is on a ridge, under oak trees

  You will also pass through some meadows where you can spot shepherd log huts

  Peaks :- Bandarpoonch, Swargarohini, Kala Nag and Ranglana stand among the others

  Stay in tents

Day 4: Kedarkantha base to Kedarkantha peak; descend to Hargaon camp

  Altitude: 11,250 feet to 12,500 feet to 8,900 feet

  6 kms trek, approx 7 hours

  Spend some time at the summit and descend back to the base camp by noon for lunch

  Post lunch, descend down to Hargaon

  Reach Hargaon by evening

  Stay in tents

Day 5: Hargaon camp to Sankri

  Altitude: 8,900 feet to 6,400 feet

  6 kms trek, approx 4 hours

  Descend 2500 feet through dense pine forests

Day 6: Departure day (Sankri to Dehradun)

  Distance: 220 km drive, approx 10 hours

  You will be dropped at Dehradun station in a bolero,tampo travellar or a similar vehicle.

Or you can go through bus. Note travel cost is not included from dehradun to sankari and back you have to pay it by yourself we will arrange a vechel for you only.
